Benefits of American Clay
100% GREEN!!

Negative Ion Charge !!!!
Many things in nature hold a negative charge, and humans living close to nature are accustomed to being surrounded by a negative charge in the air, or negative ions.

Inside todays modern home there are electrical appliances, electric cords, and synthetic plastic products (latex paint), all of which produce and maintain a positive charge in the air.

Surrounding your interior environment with clay that produces negative ions will not only help neutralize the electromagnetic effect created by appliances and synthetic plastics, but will help eliminate static charge on walls, help filter air of pollin and dander, and surround you with the charge humans are accustomed to when living in nature.

Check out our recent press release concerning negative ions.

Breathable
American Clay is breathable and naturally filters your rooms air and it's compatible with the “breatheable” construction recommended for both historic and new buildings.

Controls Humidity
Your walls will help control the humidity in your rooms by taking in moisture and releasing back into the room over time. Because clay has a negative ionic charge it attracts positive charged airborne water vapor (humidity) and will then gradually release it back into the room.

Mold Resistant
American Clay is naturally mold resistant. It contains Borax to inhibit mold growth.

No Volatile Organic Compounds !!!!
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. VOCs are emitted by a wide array of products numbering in the thousands. Examples include: paints and wax. In fact some paints emit VOCs for months after being applied. Check out the health impact of VOC at: http://www.epa.gov/iaq/voc.html#Health%20Effects

Non Fading
American Clay colors are made from natural mineral oxides and ochres, which are extremely resistant to fading. Prehistoric cave paintings demonstrate the permanence of these natural pigments. However, some waxes that can be used to seal American Clay plasters do yellow with time or exposure to light.

Long Working Time
Our plasters have a far longer working time than other plasters—up to several days if you need it—so you can take your time and work with confidence that the surface won’t “set” before you’ve achieved just the finish you want. Besides, there’s no waste. You can reuse any excess plaster—even after you’ve mixed it and it’s dried. Just break it up and rehydrate it.

Repairs Easily
This makes American Clay durable. The fact that it repairs easily and when properly done the repair is virtually undetectable sets American Clay far above most plasters on the market.

Easy Clean Up
There is no substitute for protecting areas around your project prior to application. However, after application, American Clay is easily cleaned up. Because of the walls negative ionic charge it will naturally repluse dust and pet dander.
